Dorcas Helfant-Browning was appointed to the State Board by Governor Tim Kaine on July 1, 2009, to serve the unexpired term of Constance Kincheloe. A lifelong resident of the Tidewater area, Mrs. Helfant-Browning serves as CEO, Principal Broker and Managing Partner of Coldwell Banker Professional Realtors.
Mrs. Helfant-Browning served as president of the National Association of Realtors, the Virginia Association of Realtors and the Hampton Roads Realtors Association. Currently, Mrs. Helfant-Browning is chair of the Virginia Chamber of Commerce. Having spoken before real estate audiences in all fifty states and eight foreign countries, Mrs. Helfant-Browning also has been widely quoted in national publications and made numerous national television appearances representing organized real estate.
After eight years of service and completing her third term as chair, Mrs. Helfant-Browning recently resigned from the Tidewater Community College Local Board. During her years of civic service, she has served on various governmental study groups at both the state and local levels.
Born and raised in Portsmouth, Mrs. Helfant-Browning currently resides with her family in Virginia Beach.
