Danny Hunley
Newport News

Danny Hunley was appointed by Governor Timothy Kaine to serve a four-year term on the State Board for Community Colleges beginning July 1, 2008. He is vice president of operation and trades at Northrop Grumman in Newport News, where he leads more than 9000 production and maintenance employees and is responsible for the Newport News labor resource supply chain, all shipyard facilities, manufacturing shops, the Apprentice School, and instructional design and training.

Prior to his appointment to that position in 2008, he was vice president for trades, education and training for the company's former Newport News sector since 2005. He started his career at Newport News in 1974 as a welder.

A graduate of the company's Apprentice School, he also earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from St. Leo College. He serves on the board for the Peninsula Alliance for Economic Development. He has received a number of awards, including the Tenneco Leadership Award in 1994 and the Northrop Grumman Newport News President's Model of Excellence Award for leadership.

He serves as liaison to Thomas Nelson Community College in Hampton and Williamsburg and Paul D. Camp Community College in Franklin and Suffolk.
